Kingston Tour de Kitsap May 19

Welcome to Better Properties Tour de Kitsap recap for our latest tour we hosted May 19 focused in Kingston and the North end of Kitsap County.  Our mission for Tour de Kitsap is to help homebuyers find a home suitable to fit your needs at a price you can afford while improving your commute to downtown Seattle.  Kitsap Transit is helping to improve your commute by offering a 30-minute fast ferry service from Kingston to downtown Seattle waterfront in 2018.  Better Properties Kitsap wants to help you get ahead of that improvement by introducing you to your homebuying options.  We are also pleased to announce the partnership with local lender Directors Mortgage.  It’s an extraordinary benefit to have a partner lender on board to offer their service to home buyers looking for a better option on our Tour de Kitsap.  We look forward to increasing the number of guests on tour with the level of service we’ll now be able to provide.


Saturday morning, we were at the Kingston farmers market with our Tour de Kitsap sign.  We were listening to the live music under the gazebo with vendors all around the waterfront park.  People were milling about all over the marina shopping the market and enjoying the warm atmosphere and local fare.  Main street was busy with shoppers going in and out of the downtown shops enjoying locally roasted coffee & crepes.  The marina was full of boats, the sun was shining, we were looking forward to a great day for a Tour de Kitsap. 


The Port of Kingston has been working to prepare for the next Kitsap Transit fast ferry service to begin in this year.  The ferry terminal is very nice with a modern enclosed walkway but there is also another dock being improved for access from the park near the Port of Kingston office.   This will become the fast ferry dock which is scheduled to be completed July of 2018.

The Port of Kingston is also redeveloping an outdoor green space for the public to enjoy.  In 2014 a local resident, who wishes to remain anonymous, gifted this parcel of land very near to the WSDOT waiting area to the Port of Kingston on the condition they keep and maintain it for public use. This kind of gesture by a local resident says so much about the nature of the giving community in Kingston.  For more information on the fast ferry project and the public green space at the Port of Kingston go to


While waiting for our tour guests to arrive Monica and I were enjoying the live music when someone stopped to ask about our Tour de Kitsap sign and what it was about. This person was considering selling their current home and asked if we could help. This is not an unusual occurrence, we also had that happen at the ferry terminal in Bremerton while we were picking up guests for our October Tour de Kitsap.


Let me tell you about the homes we saw on tour.  Our first home was a beautiful 5-acre homestead on level landscape with the tall trees cleared just far enough away from the house that the shine from the sun rotates around the South side of the house like a warm hug all day.  This 2001 3-bedroom 3.25 bath home includes the master on the main floor with huge floor to vaulted ceiling windows.  It has a 2-car attached garage to the main home but wait…there also is an additional 3 car detached garage with living space above about 150 yards away.  This property offers room for many RV parking spaces, a generous fire pit and circle driveway.  There was a basketball court with 2 hoops too.  This beautiful 5+ acre home is listed at $600,000.00 and is available for sale.

The next home we toured was a 2-year-old rambler with hard wood floors throughout and many custom touches.  This 3-bedroom 2 bath home is situated in the center of 2.63 acres.  This home enjoys the privacy of surrounding nature at the end of a long driveway.  Located in the quiet neighborhood of Country Woods the only sounds you will enjoy is the chirping of native birds and rustling of wildlife emerging from the bushes.  Do you think you would like to learn more about this property?  Just call our Tour de Kitsap brokers and we can get you started on your Kingston adventure lifestyle today.

Our third home on tour was closer to town but was probably the closest resembling a country farmhouse.  The main floor of this lovely home includes a wraparound porch facing the West to enjoy the warm evening sun.  Upstairs were 2 generous bedrooms with the lower level as a quiet getaway and its own access to the outside.  Just 10 minutes to the Kingston ferry terminal this home would be the ideal Seattle commuter home.
